High school teacher participation grant
2017 Arizona Physiological Society Meeting
Northern Arizona University, DuBois Center
October 13-14, 2017
High school teachers are invited to participate in the Annual Meeting of the Arizona Physiological Society (AZPS) to be held on October 13th -14th, 2017, at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff. The society offers five awards to HS teachers to cover costs for travel, AZPS membership and registration.
Teachers who are willing to help judge graduate student presentations and/or showcase physiological methods they use in their classes may also apply for a grant-in-aid of participation ($200). The goal of this grant is to initiate discussion and interaction among local teachers, university graduate students and faculty. AZPS hopes to better integrate high schools and universities as well as to establish contact between HS teachers and faculty to facilitate student “senior projects” where HS students spend time in a university laboratory.
High school teachers are strongly encouraged to share innovative or hands-on ideas for teaching on various topics in physiology in a poster or oral presentation. The theme of this year’s meeting is “Physiological Methods – History and Cutting-Edge Technologies.”
In your application (400 words), please indicate your interest in participating in the AZPS annual meeting, collaborating with university labs for potential student senior projects, and ideas/examples for implementation of hands-on teaching of topics in physiology. Please send your application to Meghan Coe, Megan.Coe@nau.edu
Application due date and Notification of award decision: October 1st
