Dr. Willis is an Associate Professor in the Department of Kinesiology at Arizona State University.  His research focuses on the mechanisms of energy transduction in mitochondria (from skeletal muscle, liver, and heart).  One of his most recent publications presents a simple hydraulic analog model for the thermokinetics of mitochondrial energy transduction.

The title of the 2016 Arizona Distinguished Lecture is:

"Taking Heed Of Kelvin's Wisdom As We Study Mitochondrial Physiology"

Dr. Willis will be providing a historical context to mitochondrial research with insights from his own scholarly career that continue to shape the field as it moves forward.
